gah, they changed lj again!

anyhoo, I went through some things back home and found two pictures from my fourth birthday. The calendar on the wall says 1987. On the table to my right(left side of picture)is a bottle of MUG rootbeer, a stuffed cat, a plastic cop on a motorcycle,a turquoise pony, and some party junk. In the middle of one of the pictures is me cutting the cake with a large knife. On my left is the original Memory game, a bert and ernie sesame street puzzle, fruit, a musical phone, and a box that says "Whiz-Kid" "A child's bridge to a personal computer!" etc.

I vaguely remember that thing.

parents yelling at me again so I'll continue this later.

warm, gooey (because it's not completely cooked) egg yolk on properly cooked(according to my mother) rice has an interesting texture. Probably not a good idea to eat eggs that aren't fully cooked, but stopping the cooking process right before the yolk is completely solid leaves it all gooey and... interesting.

Chad always adds more water than I do to the rice. Which way is correct? There's a saying that floats around now and then in my family that translates to "one home village, one set of customs." Multiply out the number of "hometowns" and you can have just as many sets of customs. And a lot of people prefer what they are used to. I can't say that I do it "the right way," although I do prefer it cooked with equal parts rice and water.

I have an eggplant! I'll have to cook it tomorrow.

I keep boiling veggies for soup, but then I don't feel like eating the veggies afterwards.

I have an idea for an art project. yeahyeah, I know, I have a bunch that I've not finished yet. But I want to do something like a ship in a bottle, only a person trapped in a bottle. Maybe a series of people in a series of bottles dealing with their situation in different ways. hmm...

Crazy baby machines!

yay, I get to move in today! Perhaps I will celebrate by going out and buying some rice and yeast. And a bunch of small containers to try out different rice-yeast ratios. Maybe we'll make a party of it some weekend or other.

But only after my final of course. I have little more than a day to study after all.

Now to figure out that fourier series related stuff and why it should matter to me...

a new roomie? and possible doorbell

Twig is out of town and I don't see him online. At some point, we'll have to get together and talk about his roomie situation. Anybody know anything about lilmisscourty? She made a post here:

http://www.livejournal.com/community/ucdavis/1425410.html

I like getting to know people a bit before deciding to live with them so perhaps we'll do sushi or something.

Her reply to my list of questions:
[X]willing to live with guys/chick
[_]willing to live in living room
[X]willing to share room with guy (if the guy is ok sharing with a girl)
[X]geeky (a little)
[_]picky
[_]neat
[_]allergic to hamsters
[_]allergic to books
[X]love books
[X]dumpster dive (only have once, but I want to again)
[_]pothead
[_]other type of druggie
[_]alchoholic
[_]partier
[_]loud
[_]etc

The living room will be FULL of shelves and books, some hamsters, and more books, not necessarily always neatly on the shelves. We may end up with boxes and boxes in the living room for a while as we sort through all the stuff we have.

So far, things are looking good, but Twig is the one that will be sharing the room and Chad and I are only sharing a living room, kitchen, and bathroom so he will have to agree. We're not desperate for a new roomie so a single no from any of us means no. Personally, I hate fuzzy moldy things in the fridge and will take the liberty of throwing out anything that is heinously old, mine or not. I usually ask, but some people just don't care and if it's so old that they forget that they even put it in there, I think it's safe to chuck it even if it's not mine.

I <3 clean open spaces, but I get lazy sometimes. I did pull a new swiffer thing along with an unopened tub of swiffer wipes out of a freshman pile of toss outs though(silly freshmen) so the floor should be taken care of. Dishes occasionally sit for a while, but we might have a dish washer and I'll try to clean them regularly. I don't know, we'll see. I'm not the neatest person on earth, but I will occasionally break down and clean the kitchen. Hopefully, I won't be the only one. Twig seems relatively clean for a guy. Chad ends up with piles and that doesn't motivate me to keep my piles of paper down. I guess we're made for each other anyway.

I have a bong. It is Pretty and will be used as a Flower Vase. Whosoever smokes with it shall feel my wrath. No smoking in the apartment. I don't want to wheeze and keel over in my own home.

Ah yes, the doorbell.

I have acquired some push buttons and stuff from the EEC100 lab that I'm currently in and can make some spiffy things, if only I had more parts. I set up 4 buttons on the breadboard today while waiting for lab to start. Button A, when pushed, lights up button group A. Nothing else works unless A is pushed. A+B means light groups A and B light up; A+C means light groups A and C light up. When Button D is pressed, it shorts everything else and no lights will go on no matter what you press. It's a simple circuit with a handfull of short wires and lights, but there were still people that still said whoa and asked me how long I've been in college. Odd. I thought they were doing better than I was. Maybe they're more book smart than I am, but at least I have some fun with what I learn.

Oh yeah, I might try to make a doorbell with some of those parts. Might need some more though, so every person can have their own button. That or have a grid of buttons on the door and only people we know will know which ones to push...

Circuits are fun.

I am on the wait list for Archery. wheee. I knew they had it, but it gets so horribly full every time that I never get in. I'm waitlisted #17. Let me in, let me in! I'm a senior! I've waited YEARS for the class!

There is a major restriction on the ecs289M class I was going to sign up for. Maybe I'll try again later.

archery or ethics, archery or ethics... I need ethics. Barr is teaching it. But that's waitlisted too. Of course, I don't know when barr is teaching ethics again. uurgh...

I suppose I'll take ethics.

Bastards. Not only do I not get to take archery or sleep in, I'll probably wake up at 7 every morning anyway because of my early lab on friday.

13.5 units + 3.5 waitlist units = 17 units if I get into everything.
