It explains it all [Sep. 26th, 2004|12:46 am]
gah, they changed lj again!

anyhoo, I went through some things back home and found two pictures from my fourth birthday. The calendar on the wall says 1987. On the table to my right(left side of picture)is a bottle of MUG rootbeer, a stuffed cat, a plastic cop on a motorcycle,a turquoise pony, and some party junk. In the middle of one of the pictures is me cutting the cake with a large knife. On my left is the original Memory game, a bert and ernie sesame street puzzle, fruit, a musical phone, and a box that says "Whiz-Kid" "A child's bridge to a personal computer!" etc.

I vaguely remember that thing.

parents yelling at me again so I'll continue this later.

warm, gooey (because it's not completely cooked) egg yolk on properly cooked(according to my mother) rice has an interesting texture. Probably not a good idea to eat eggs that aren't fully cooked, but stopping the cooking process right before the yolk is completely solid leaves it all gooey and... interesting.

Chad always adds more water than I do to the rice. Which way is correct? There's a saying that floats around now and then in my family that translates to "one home village, one set of customs." Multiply out the number of "hometowns" and you can have just as many sets of customs. And a lot of people prefer what they are used to. I can't say that I do it "the right way," although I do prefer it cooked with equal parts rice and water.

I have an eggplant! I'll have to cook it tomorrow.

I keep boiling veggies for soup, but then I don't feel like eating the veggies afterwards.

I have an idea for an art project. yeahyeah, I know, I have a bunch that I've not finished yet. But I want to do something like a ship in a bottle, only a person trapped in a bottle. Maybe a series of people in a series of bottles dealing with their situation in different ways. hmm...

The female fuzzy that kept having all those babies is dead. Twig said he found it the other day limp and with a bloody gash, the babies scurrying about like crazy. Sad, no?

I tried letting my computer update, but when I restarted it, I got nothing but text. An attempt to fix the problem using the install DVD failed and I could hardly even log in. (translation: everything went kablooie.) So I said bye bye to my data and reinstalled Fedora. What a POS. Of course, my sony vaio didn't come with much on it and didn't even have a restoration cd for when that went kablooie so i'll work with what i have for now.

Mom gave me a bunch of yummy buns and a 50 lb bag of rice, plus a mango and some other things. yay, rice!

I miss chad. He just sent me a link to:

orgasmic.

I need some more fake ivy and stuff to decorate the bed.

I have no idea where the charger for the batteries for my digital camera are. ack! damn this moving business!

I made a wedge shaped hanging rack-thing out of notched plastic drawer divider/organizer strips. I hung it on the wall using green plastic plant tie ribbon and a staplegun. It's about a foot and a half high and displays some of my origami and rubber stamps. Oh, and two cute christmas ornaments.

Chad's mom is going to be picking us up soon

bras are uncomfortable.

One of these days, I'll finish the Dalemark Quartet series by Diana Wynne Jones. I have all four books, but there's so much else I want/have to do...

mozart sings a bit. Twig doesn't seem to like him.

I've been cranky lately. Hope I haven't bothered anyone too much. Bugs bite me. The heat bothers me. I itch. I scratch. I have scabs. I have weird tan lines on my feet thanks to my sandals.

I miss colored pencils. Perhaps I will put down the wire and pick up some pencils...

resource leak [Sep. 7th, 2004|04:10 pm]
Suppose someone were to offer you relatively new books and magazines at a very low price, say 50 cents. Would you buy it if it didn't have a cover? Not having a cover, they were probably reported as being unsold and destroyed, which I assume means that the author and peeps don't get $ for them.

If you don't buy the stripped books, they're heading to a recycling plant/landfill(blahblahblahbadforenvironmentblah) and author/whoever doesn't get paid for it.
If you do, you get a cheap book and if you never planned to buy it new anyway, the author/whoever still doesn't get paid for it and doesn't lose much, if anything at all.

Thoughts?

I need food.
